The skin is the largest organ of the human body with two primary functions: it protects the body from the environment, and it retains essential body fluids. The skin is the barrier between your body and the world.
As we age, the ability of the skin to react and respond becomes less efficient. Dead skin cells do not shed as quickly and turnover of new skin cells typically decreases. The top layers of skin lose moisture, and as a result, older skin has a drier and more dehydrated appearance and wrinkles appear.
